Why Do I Build?
Find Out MoreI Started building Gundam Model Kits In 2023, My best friend Joshua Allen has been trying to get me started on building them for years and I decided to get my first 3 kits on amazon that year. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I was building; I had no knowledge of the series All I knew was big robot suits fighting and didn’t understand much more. The First 3 kits that I bought were older kits that came out in the early 2000s-2010s. When I Started building, I was so confused and looked up a YouTube video on how to build which explained so much and made it much simpler for me. I wanted to start building them because I saw Josh’s collection and really loved how they looked.
After he gave me a brief history of them, I was interested, He’s been building them ever since he was a kid and has almost 100 kits in his collection. All varying from different sizes or in Gundam terms “Grade” My personal Favorite Grade being Master Grade cause they are basically big action figures at a perfect size of 8 inches. The pricing of them is much more cost efficient then from Legos and are especially cheaper in Japan since they started there, I got me a few that year when I went on my Japan trip that year with my friends. Another big reason that I wanted to start building them too is because they are owned by my all time favorite comapny Bandai Namco which has produced some of my all time favorite games and I hope to work there one day.
As I started to build more and more, I started to get invested in the series sand wanted to learn more about each kit I was building and have a big collection of them just like how my friend josh does. He’s still to this day trying to get more of our friends to start building them and I have joined him on trying to convince our friends as well but even if they don’t build it or find it interesting Me and him will gladly empty our pockets for more of these kits. Building them also Helps With My ADHD I tend to get distracted a lot and always find a new hobby a lot. But with building Gundam kits I really enjoy this hobby as much as I love video games and anime and I see it being a lifelong hobby that I will never get bored of I try to get my bother into it but he isnt intrested but I know I can get him to come around.
Whenever I build, I find a sense of calmness and peace and I’m just focused on the build. There’re always new kits coming out each year and it always gets me excited wanting to buy more but I always rember and tell myself “COMPLETE YOUR BACKLOG OF KITS!!” I have 6 I need to build that are sitting at the side of my room begging me to finish them when i'm not busy with work or school.
